Parking along the route is strictly prohibited and all violators will be ticketed by the deputies patrolling the highway. Parking at the top is limited so please plan on carpooling. Summerhaven has 200 parking spaces and once that limit is reached the entire highway will be closed to vehicular traffic.
One lane on Catalina Highway will be closed beginning at 4:00a and we will provide a pilot car to continue the flow of traffic to and from Summerhaven and Ski Valley. We estimate that he waiting time for the pilot car will be 60-70 minutes before 10:00a and 30-40 minutes after 10:00a. Both lanes will be open to traffic
no later than 2:00p. All Forest Service facilities (vista point, campgrounds, restrooms) and access to Summerhaven, Ski Valley, cabins and local businesses will be open at all times.
Tentative pilot car schedule:
Up: 6:02, 7:30, 8:45, 9:45, 10:30, 11:10, 11:40, 12:10, 12:40, 1:05
Down: 6:50, 8:10, 9:15, 10:10, 10:50, 11:25, 11:55, 12:25, 12:55, 1:15
There are 6 areas on the course where you can watch the runners - please remember once you stop you won't be able to leave the area until the next pilot car picks you up 60 minutes later. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL FOREST SERVICE FEES ($5/day or $20/year; passes available at various fee stations along the route)

TO AVOID TRAFFIC AND PARKING PROBLEMS PLEASE FOLLOW ALL SHERIFF'S DEPUTIES' INSTRUCTIONS!
Catalina Highway is not technically closed to bicycle traffic, but please aware that should you choose to ride the mountain on October 23, you must obey all rules of the road just as vehicular traffic. Bicycles are not permitted in the lane closed for the marathon course. This means that if you cannot keep up with the pilot car traffic, you must pull off the road. Should you to stop to take a break, or to turn around, you must also wait for the pilot car to direct you, rather than riding against traffic and potentially causing an accident.
